The Best Homemade Sandwich Bread (Beginner-Friendly Recipe)
Ingredients
- 3 cups lukewarm water
- 2 tbs sugar or honey
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp active yeast
- 3 tbs olive or avocado oil
- 6 cups all purpose organic flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl add water, sugar and salt. stir.
- Sprinkle yeast on top.
- Add oil and stir in 5 cups of flour until it becomes hard to stir.dough should look shaggy and sticky.
- Flour your clean work surface and pour out shaggy dough.
- Add 1 more cup of flour and knead dough. add a little more flour as needed.
- Once dough is smooth, elastic, and is only slightly tacky place back into bowl and cover.
- Cover and allow dough to rise in warm place for 1 hour
- Add oil to hands and punch down dough. Pull dough away from side of bowl and flip to leave top smooth.
- Cover and allow to rise for 1 more hour.
- Cut dough ball in half and place into buttered loaf pans.
- Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
- Butter tops of warm loaves if desired.
